Springfield’s Gibson Pledges Commitment to UK

Three-star defensive lineman Isaiah Gibson announced his commitment to Kentucky on Wednesday night, picking the Wildcats over fellow finalists Purdue and Wisconsin.

Gibson — a 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect from Springfield, Ohio — is the No. 27 defensive tackle in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports rankings. He’s also the No. 19 overall player from Ohio and UK’s third commitment from that state for next year’s class, joining fellow defensive tackle Cavon Butler and high school teammate Moses Douglass, a defensive back and the Cats’ only four-star commitment for 2019.

Recruited by Vince Marrow, Gibson will join his fellow Springfield teammate, Moses Douglass, in Lexington. Douglass is the highest-ranked recruit in the class. They’re coached by Moe Douglass, a former Wildcat that spent more than a decade playing in the NFL, primarily with the Chicago Bears.

Gibson is a 3-star recruit with offers from Kentucky, Georgia, West Virginia, Florida, Rutgers, Purdue, Louisville and Cincinnati, among others. His final-three choices came down to Kentucky, Purdue and Wisconsin.
